Los Angeles-based Anesthesiologist
Edward B. Fohrman, MD is an ABA Board Certified Anesthesiologist practicing in Beverly Hills and the Greater Los Angeles area. He is currently the CEO of Fohrman Anesthesia Services & Consulting, Inc., which he founded in 2010.
Dr. Fohrman received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University and went on to spend a year at Georgetown University Neuroscience Institute using state of the art tools in tissue culture and molecular biology and published his research.
Edward Fohrman graduated at the top of his class from Rush University Medical School in Chicago in 1996. He completed his Anesthesiology residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2003, after which he joined a large private practice group in Northern California and continued his academic interests as an adjunct clinical faculty member at Stanford University.
In 2006, he joined the faculty at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where his primary focus was in Neuroanesthesia for both complex intracranial pathology and high-risk spine surgery. During this time, Dr. Fohrman acted as a medico-legal consultant and testified as an expert witness in several complex cases at both deposition and trial.
In 2010, he returned to California with a lucrative offer to help open a brand new hospital in an underserved community. This led to joining a larger group practice covering a major Trauma Center where he handled a variety of high acuity cases taking in-house 24-hour trauma call and was a member of the cardiac anesthesia team for open heart surgery including thoracic and major vascular cases.
Edward Fohrman’s primary mission is to provide patients with safe, compassionate, and efficient anesthesia using cutting edge equipment and techniques. “I feel very strongly that the opportunity to practice medicine and help people is truly a privilege.”
“Anesthesiology is very much an art based on science. For many patients having surgery, they do not meet their anesthesiologist until moments before their procedure. Just as important as the planning and administration of the anesthetic, is the ability to be there for the patient and their family. Empathy and compassion are paramount to helping them through a difficult, often scary time.”
Edward Fohrman is dedicated to helping his patients heal and feel comfortable during surgery. He hopes he can help put their minds at ease. He knows how intimidating going under for surgery can be. Patients often don’t meet their anesthesiologist until just before their surgery! Edward strives to build rapport and trust with his patients and their families quickly. Even though his work requires so much attention to detail and important decisions, he still makes time for his patients.
Edward Fohrman isn’t just passionate about helping his patients. He is also a strong advocate for his fellow physicians. He knows that physician burnout is a big problem. He’s very supportive of self-care and wellness. After all, being a doctor is one of the most stressful jobs on the planet. He realizes that physicians provide the best care for their patients when they themselves are healthy and happy with their positions. The healthcare industry is intense– there’s a lot at stake! Edward encourages others to take good care of themselves in addition to their patients.
Dr. Fohrman has taken his years of experience and skill set to his current practice which has shifted focus to ambulatory/outpatient surgery. He is an expert in the use of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia techniques and outpatient spine surgery.
Edward Fohrman is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA), the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA) and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia (ASRA).
